Ryan Chesnut, Ph.D.

Ryan Chesnut, Ph.D., is a Research & Evaluation Scientist for the Clearinghouse for Military Family Readiness at The Pennsylvania State University. He received his Ph.D. in Communication Arts & Sciences, with a specialization in family communication, from Penn State in 2014. His research focuses on how communication in the father-child dyad influences the well-being and development of both fathers and children, and he has presented his work at regional and national conferences. In addition, he has taught a variety of undergraduate courses such as communication theories and research methods. At the Clearinghouse, he is helping to develop a strength-based parenting program for military families and is evaluating programs used by professionals serving military families. He is looking forward to the opportunity to work with military families and professionals to help promote military family readiness. In his free time, Ryan enjoys hiking, camping, fishing, and playing baseball with his wife and three kids.
