Children, Youth, Families At Risk Professional Development and Technical Assistance Center
As part of his Extension Appointment, Dr. Daniel F. Perkins is a Co-Principal Investigator of the Children, Youth, Families At Risk Professional Development and Technical Assistance (CYFAR PDTA) Center. The CYFAR PDTA Center supports CYFAR Sustainable Community Projects (SCP) grantees that are funded by the United States Department of Agriculture – National Institute of Food and Agriculture. The Center works with grantees through evaluation support, technical assistance (coaching), and professional development. Since 1991, projects have been funded in over 600 communities in all states and territories. These projects intend to marshal the resources of land grant universities and cooperative-extension systems, in collaboration with other organizations, to develop and deliver educational programs. CYFAR SCP grantees conduct community programming to promote family resiliency and equip youth, who are at risk for not meeting basic human needs, with the skills necessary to help them lead positive, productive, contributing lives.
